Abstract

This IDC Tech Buyer Presentation, which is part of IDC's Future Enterprise Planning Guide series, examines digital enterprise cloud planning. As the foundation of digital transformation (DX), cloud has already changed how IT is architected and operated. Early choices made on platforms, resource management, and operational workflows can create long-term obligations that potentially limit agility and growth opportunity.

Organizations are heavily committed to and invested in cloud — over 74% of organizations are currently using SaaS and over 50% of organizations are using PaaS and IaaS. The adoption of cloud comes with a whole host of new hurdles ranging from adoption strategies to cloud economics and multicloud management strategies. Many IT leaders are challenged to understand different cloud options and map them to their organizational DX strategy.

A cohesive cloud adoption strategy creates a framework for management to navigate the changing cloud landscape while staying focused on business priorities. This guide helps CIOs and IT leaders get the tools necessary to calculate costs, create new KPIs, and visualize success in critical areas. Included are cloud budget planning models, a process for calculating migration costs, and options for a hybrid cloud Implementation.

This IDC Tech Buyer Presentation is part of IDC's Future Enterprise Planning Guide series. Each module delivers key overviews, targeted advice, and peer insights to guide users through key parts of the digital transformation process.
