Abstract

This IDC PeerScape explores the attributes of and gives examples of how cloud-based predictive analytics in a converged infrastructure environment enables workload modeling and the ability to identify failures before they occur. CBPA tools also use AI/ML to optimize systems in real time to continue to meet SLAs despite changing conditions that result from system failures, a spiking workload, or other unforeseen events. Troubleshooting to identify culprits when performance slowdowns occur and pre-validating firmware, software, and hardware upgrades are also important attributes of CBPA platforms.

"The sophistication of cloud data analytics tools for converged infrastructure has matured, but there are still limitations in the ability for these tools to diagnose networking and cross-platform issues, as well as a lack of automated resolution recommendation tools. Users should be aware of these limitations in choosing a product for their environment," says Lucas Mearian, research manager, IDC Infrastructure Platforms and Technologies Group.
