Abstract

This IDC Perspective explains what workplace recovery is, important factors for implementing it, and best practice recommendations. Workplace recovery is a part of business continuance that too often is either not addressed or not addressed adequately. To be effective, it must work hand in hand with disaster recovery.

"Workplace recovery weaknesses have been exposed by the COVID-19 pandemic," said Phil Goodwin, research director, Infrastructure Systems, Platforms and Technologies Group at IDC. "Workplace recovery is an essential part of business continuance along with disaster recovery. Organizations with thorough, complete business continuance plans have a much higher chance of not just surviving, but also thriving, in the aftermath of a natural disaster, terrorist attack, or global pandemic."
