Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight examines how digital KPIs are being used in 2020 versus 2019. The encouraging news is that companies did a much better job of both designing digital measures and employing them into their management systems in 2020. The best of these companies uses them most for annual planning and for monitoring and measuring weekly performance. Leading organizations understand the need to continuously manage in real time, not waiting for monthly or quarterly business reviews.

That said, much more work here is still required while digital KPIs are being used at a much higher rate to plan, transform, and execute in 2020. "Overall levels are still well below 50%, a far cry from achieving critical mass where we would see the vast majority of organizations becoming digital natives," according to Shawn Fitzgerald, research director, IDC's Worldwide Digital Transformation (DX) Strategies.
