This IDC Perspective summarizes several of the top considerations that merchants should have when evaluating digital commerce application providers, as there are many different ways to approach the digital commerce application evaluation and selection process.

"Selecting the right digital commerce application can be extremely difficult for most B2B and B2C merchants; there isn't a one-size-fits-all vendor, and it is difficult to prioritize different characteristics among the technology suppliers," says Jordan Jewell, research manager, Digital Commerce program at IDC. "We recommend that technology buyers focus on several considerations when selecting a system, including how they wish to use the technology to differentiate, whether they want a system that supports both B2B and B2C, and whether they want a best-of-breed system or a platform."
