Abstract

This IDC Survey is part 1 of 2 in a series examining the state of digital business transformation in Asia/Pacific (including Japan) (APJ). It looks at the critical levers of becoming a digital business, challenges in digital business transformation, and ways organizations are allocating digital investments. The report also aims to help technology vendors understand how to meet technology buyers' changing priorities as they transition from scaling digital internally to using technology to compete in a digital-first era.

Our research shows that APJ leads in ushering forth the digital business era, and CEOs are more personally involved in using technology to compete while using digital road maps as part of their communication toolkits to drive long-term funding and reach environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals. However, organizations are challenged in operating and organization model transformations because of continued high failure rates in digital projects. This report examines how technology vendors can position for success in the digital business era by focusing on business, operating, and organization model transformations with a digital business platform orientation.
