Research Manager, Services and Cloud Research Group, IDC Asia/Pacific
Cathy Huang is a Research Manager with IDC’s Asia/Pacific Services and Cloud Research Group. Based in Singapore, she manages the Services research practice within that group for the Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) region and is responsible for research and custom projects relating to IT services opportunities, business consulting and BPO in the region. Cathy also collaborates with the larger Group to provide input to Cloud research for topics relating to IT Services, Security and networking. She has extensive industry experience and domain expertise across a broad range of ICT segments, such as security, application networking, cloud and managed services. This has been developed from extensive research and consulting work across APEJ, especially within the Greater China area.
Prior to joining IDC, she specialized in tracking and analyzing market trends and developments across a multitude of security technologies and services, and she also led research efforts into emerging areas such as software-defined networks and application performance management.
Fluent in English and Mandarin, Cathy is an opinion maker and provides thought leadership in establishing latest market and technology trends. Cathy is often quoted by leading publications and media such as the Business Times (Singapore), BBC Asia, ZDNet Asia, CIO Magazine, MIS Australia and others.
Cathy holds a Master in Public Policy from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, and a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Policy Studies and Administration (first class honors) from the City University of Hong Kong.Team: Asia/Pacific Services Team,
