Abstract

This IDC Market Presentation highlights how satellite communications for all can expand the connectivity reach with low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites. Low Earth orbit satellite connectivity has emerged to become more prominent for communications service providers' (comms SPs') investment and technology plans for delivering converged wireless networks for consumers and businesses, and also including renewed oversight from regulators who are taking note of next-generation satellite technologies. LEO satellite communications offer numerous advantages to supply voice, data, and mobile broadband in areas where the deployment of fixed-line broadband or terrestrial wireless is uneconomical or unreachable, signaling an important new opportunity for satellite operators, traditional mobile service providers, and equipment manufacturers.
