Abstract

This IDC Tech Buyer Presentation provides a quick situational overview and actionable guidance to accelerate the sourcing, procurement, and contracting of IT products and services by employing agile concepts and processes.

Many IT organizations, inspired by agile development approaches, are now applying agile thinking to procurement — embracing a more adaptable, scalable, results-driven, and collaborative approach to contracts and vendor relationships. The traditional procurement process, with long RFP cycles and detailed requirements, is recognized as too slow and unresponsive for the rapid delivery of digital services.

“Flexibility, speed, and responsiveness in a digitally competitive world have become imperatives for the future IT organization. To support future IT, agile IT sourcing and procurement is no longer an option,” said Ron Babin, adjunct research advisor with IDC’s IT Executive Programs (IEP). “The question is no longer whether to use agile techniques in IT sourcing and procurement, but when, by how much, and how fast?”

Learn how to implement agile sourcing methods to deliver meaningful results to the business and drive competitive differentiation and advantage.

IDC’s Future IT Blueprints chart a map for your most important technology initiatives.
