The Future of Work is a fundamental shift in the work model to one that fosters human-machine collaboration, enables new skills and worker experiences, and supports a secure location-and device-agnostic virtual workspace and reimagined physical workplace.
“Each of the organizations recognized in this year’s Best in Future of Work North America Awards presented an agile modern workspace that is nimble, adaptive and scalable,” said Amy Loomis, research vice president, Future of Work at IDC. “We are excited to recognize innovative organizations evolving their IT and business practices to meet future of work challenges.”

Overall Winner: Merrill Wealth Management – Mobile Advisor Experience (MAX)
Project Details: The work from home posture during Covid presented an opportunity for us to release an app that was unlike anything available within our competitive landscape.
In September 2021, Merrill launched the Mobile Advisor Experience app (MAX), an industry leading, mobile application that enables advisors to perform critical work functions from an iPhone or iPad. MAX provides financial advisors with a secure mobile app on their company-issued iPhones that consolidates all the necessary information and tools needed to successfully service their clients when away from their workstations. It also simplifies complex mobile tasks bringing together seemingly separate systems into a single experience. An Advisor can now address urgent matters from anywhere where there is internet connectivity.
As far as we are aware, MAX is the first advisor dedicated mobile application within full-service firms that offers advisors the ability to securely access client information and effectively perform crucial tasks on the go while away from their workstation. While MAX is not intended to replace a computer, the app augments the client experience where advisors can address urgent client needs from anywhere where there is internet connectivity.
First Runner-up: Royal Vopak – Vopak’s Data Driven Journey
Project Details: The implementation of Oracle Cloud brought standardization and simplification to the Vopak ERP environment. Vopak accomplished this for more than 30 countries across the globe. Working in one environment forced Vopak to use the best practices of the Oracle SaaS solution, which was a challenge for their end-user community coming from (13) decentralized JD Edwards environments with no standard way of working. Standardization and simplification are key to being able to become the data-driven company Vopak would like to be.
Fusion Analytics provides analytics for all Oracle Cloud ERP. With this tooling, Vopak can get the insights in the data that they are looking for. The solution adds value for decision making, but also from a monitoring and control perspective they can see where they are in a Month-End Closing. This solution is one of the main drivers to increase and speed up standardization and implementation of best practices.
In cooperation with Oracle, Vopak was (and still is) able to empower our business users’ analytics capabilities for data preparation, visualization, reporting, and analysis.
Second Runner-up: Triumph, Factoring Division – How Triumph is Driving Innovation and Agility in the Financial Solutions for the Trucking Industry
Project Details: Triumph, a financial solutions provider for trucking companies, has offered financial services to transportation companies for nearly two decades. These services include account receivables financing, fuel advance and fuel discount programs, credit and risk analysis, account resolutions, account management software, and back-office support.
Triumph’s success is measured by the value it brings to clients, partners, and team members. However, managing the paperwork submission processes as a financial intermediary between Triumph’s clients and their customers posed a challenge. It required manual labor that limited scalable service levels and led to cumbersome, labor-intensive work for team members.
Clarie Workman, a forward-thinking leader at Triumph, recognized the need for agility and process streamlining to position the company for continued growth. She explored robotic process automation (RPA) solutions and engaged Xerox, an existing Triumph service provider. Xerox introduced their Robotic Process Automation Service as a solution to Triumph’s manual process challenges. With close collaboration between Clarie, her team, and Xerox, they implemented RPA to process invoices overnight. The success of this initiative led to additional exploration of the expansion of RPA adoption. This implementation aligns with the organization’s overall digital growth strategy, specifically emphasizing improving efficiency while enhancing employee experiences.
