You need a defensible answer in minutes, but the research to get there properly would take hours you don’t have. So you open a generic AI tool, get an answer that sounds confident, and move on. Maybe it’s right. Maybe it’s built on outdated data and a market definition that doesn’t quite match your business. You won’t find out until someone in the room asks you to defend it.
That’s the gap IDC Quanta was built to close. Today, it launched.
What Is IDC Quanta?
IDC Quanta is IDC’s technology intelligence fabric. It runs on 60 years of proprietary research and 15 billion data points, built directly into the tools your team already uses: Excel, email, Claude, idc.com. Five things separate it from a general-purpose AI tool. It meets your team where they already work instead of sending them to a portal. It draws on your organization’s own data to make answers specific to your situation. Every document stays behind AES-256 encryption and SOC 2 certification, with automatic 90-day deletion. It runs continuously in the background, so intelligence reaches you before you ask for it. And every answer is checked against IDC’s proprietary data through a multi-agent verification system, with citations you can trace back to the source. Most AI tools don’t hand you that receipt.
That last part matters most. An answer without a source is a guess wearing a confident tone. An answer with one is evidence you can put in front of a CFO.
Watch It Work: A Forecast That Almost Made It Into a CFO Review
Here’s what that looks like in practice. In the launch demo, an FP&A analyst is building a market forecast ahead of a CFO review, projecting 16% growth for a security segment his company competes in. His director gave him one instruction before signing off: validate the number against an external benchmark, because the CFO will ask.
He asks IDC Quanta the question, right inside Excel. In under a minute, Quanta surfaces IDC’s own forecast for that market: 12.1% growth through 2029, with the category decelerating to single digits in the out years. His number was running well above where the market is actually headed — and now he knows it before the CFO does.
A generic AI tool would have given him a number. IDC Quanta gave him a number, a source, and the time to find out what the number was actually missing. Which one would you rather walk into that meeting with?
What Early Customers Are Saying
None of this matters if it doesn’t hold up outside a demo. During the beta, IDC Quanta went into the hands of more than 175 customers, and the pattern in what came back was consistent.
“As soon as I used it, I knew it. Confidence comes from trust of the vendor. I trust IDC to give me good information,” said Mark Terranova, Global Head of Analyst Relations at Kyndryl.
“An AI backed by IDC’s research gives me a lot more confidence in the answers,” said Philip Langeberg, CTO of the Resorts Companies.
Jolene Peixoto, VP of Corporate Communications at Relex, put it simply: it helps her team get value from IDC research even faster.
