SINGAPORE, November 09, 2022 – IDC’s latest MarketScape Report: Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) AI Lifecycle Software Tools & Platforms 2022 Vendor Assessment provides an in-depth analysis of eight vendors offering AI lifecycle software tools and platforms in the region. Four vendors that IDC classifies as Leaders (in alphabetical order) are AWS, IBM, Google, and Microsoft. The remaining four vendors are classified as Major Players, including (in alphabetical order) Baidu, Dataiku, DataRobot, and Samsung SDS.
AI life-cycle software tools are used by data scientists, machine learning developers, and business analysts to experiment, deploy, productize, monitor, and update their own AI and ML solutions. This report covers three named submarkets: AI build software, MLOps software, and trustworthy AI software. In 2025, this software market is expected to exceed US$2.2 billion in AP (excluding Japan) region.
According to IDC’s Industry AI Path Survey and AI Strategies BuyerView Survey, both conducted in 2021, 26% of AI projects in Asia Pacific companies have reached production stage and among them, 63% need to retrain/rebuild models at least weekly.
“As companies get beyond the experiment stage for AI and data science initiatives, AI lifecycle technologies become essential parts of any intelligent enterprise”, says Dr. Chris Marshall, Vice President, Artificial Intelligence and Analytics Strategies at IDC Asia Pacific.
The IDC report, IDC MarketScape : Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) AI Lifecycle Software Tools & Platforms 2022 Vendor Assessment (Doc # AP48940522 ), employs a highly detailed assessment framework that evaluates vendors on their current ability to support customers with AI/ML model lifecycle management needs. 5 generic vendor segments are identified: hyper-scalers, solution-builders, capability-enablers, hardware-providers, and analytics-navigators. While numbers suggest the vendors in the first 3 segments have been more successful in helping organizations manage their AI/ML initiations, we also expect vendors in the segment of hardware-providers and analytics-navigators to significantly influence the competitive landscape in the coming years.
