REST API Integration

IDC provides three distinct REST APIs that enable IDC customers and partners to retrieve documents and data sets they subscribe to.

  • Research Documents API – any research document available on my.IDC.com can be also downloaded through this API. The API also provides a listing of documents available to the Research Document Subscriber. Some of the documents are part of the data products (for example taxonomies).
  • Data API – provides access to all data sets available in any of the Tracker, Spending Guide or Black Book products. This API provides access to the data available on idctracker.com and idccustomerinsights.com.
  • Services Contract Database API – provides access to the data delivered in the Services Contract Database.

The information available through Research Documents API and the Data API is also available through
SFTP Integration. Services Contract Database is only available through REST API.

Supported Versions

IDC continuously develops its integration capabilities including REST API. If the changes are backward compatible IDC will not change the version of the API and the changes will be rolled out automatically.

However, in some cases it is not possible to maintain backwards compatibility. In this case IDC will rollout a new version which will coexist with the old version for a period of 6 months. Clients and partners are expected to migrate to the new version during this period.

The Research Document API is no longer available to new subscribers. Existing subscribers retain access through December 31, 2027, or their contract renewal date, whichever comes first. For AI and agentic use cases, we recommend transitioning to IDC Quanta and the MCP offering, which supports content discovery and individual document downloads. Please contact your account team to plan migration.

The QT API Classic is available only to existing users. If you are an existing subscriber, contact your account team to know more. If you are not an existing user, do explore our MCP connectivity option and stay tuned for more information on future offerings.
