Abstract

This IDC MarketScape examined 12 different vendors that offer cloud security services in the highly competitive and maturing Asia/Pacific market. The participating firms were meticulously evaluated using the IDC MarketScape model, which reviewed the vendors' capabilities and strategies against an extensive list of scoring criteria and parameters. These include the comprehensiveness of their offerings, portfolio benefits, market execution, market presence, innovation, partnerships, customer satisfaction, and employee management. With the combination of primary research and IDC's own in-depth industry knowledge and insights, IDC was able to methodically assess the strength and challenges of each participating vendor. The vendors' position on the IDC MarketScape figure will be a valuable indicator for enterprises and organizations in Asia/Pacific that are currently seeking a security provider and trusted partner to guide them on their cloud digital transformation (DX) journey.

"It is remarkable to observe how certain Asia/Pacific organizations that have embraced cloud technology for several years are currently placing a greater emphasis on rapidly and extensively implementing enhanced security measures. Engaging the services of a cloud security vendor significantly contributes to maintaining ongoing assurance and operational excellence for these well-established organizations. For organizations that are in the early stages of their journey into cloud transformation, seeking expert guidance is crucial for the assessment, design, and early-stage implementation of pertinent security frameworks along with the adoption of relevant cloud-native controls. With the emergence of advanced AI/ML capabilities, such as generative AI, customers are increasingly emphasizing the need to integrate AI into security services. This is no longer only about enhancing operational efficiency but also about addressing the gap caused by the shortage of skilled IT professionals," says Christian Fam, research manager for security services, IDC Asia/Pacific.

"In the dynamic landscape of Asia/Pacific's DX, the embrace of a digital-first strategy is not only a choice but also an imperative. As organizations harness the power of cloud technology within their digital infrastructure, the complexity of securing the hybrid IT environment rises. This IDC MarketScape study finds that security vendors in the region have risen to meet this challenge, showcasing their commitment through enhanced, holistic, and end-to-end cloud security capabilities, which will serve as an enabler of the region's transformation goals and ambitions," adds James Sivalingam, senior program manager for security services, IDC Asia/Pacific.

Sakshi Grover, research manager, IDC Asia/Pacific, mentions "Cloud security services in the Asia/Pacific region are experiencing rapid growth, driven by the increasing adoption of cloud technologies and the heightened awareness of cybersecurity threats. Given the rising regulatory pressures in the Asia/Pacific region, forward-thinking business leaders recognize that an all-cloud strategy lacks long-term viability." She adds, "Whether operating in regulated sectors or specific geographic regions, the focus is on strategically placing data and workloads in the most suitable cloud environments and establishing rigorous governance, compliance, and sovereignty measures. This shift presents significant opportunities for cloud security vendors to utilize advanced technologies, such as AI/ML, automation, and orchestration, and deliver innovative, tailored solutions that address the region's unique challenges and regulatory requirements."
