This IDC study quantifies the worldwide multifunction and single-function printer market opportunity in detail, analyzing issues, trends, and product advances in this market. Unit shipments, value of shipments, and average selling value information is presented. Data for 2016–2021 is actual, whereas data for 2022–2026 is projected. This forecast is consistent with IDC's 3Q22 Worldwide Quarterly Hardcopy Peripherals Tracker.
"The 'supply chain crisis' limited supply caused demand to exceed supply in 2021 and 2022. As supply chains recover, worldwide printer and MFP shipments are expected to experience year-over-year growth in 2023. However, shipments are never expected to reach pre-COVID-19 pandemic levels, and the worldwide market will resume its long-term decline in 2024.
