Abstract

This IDC PeerScape presents three best practices for organizations trying to build their enterprise intelligence capabilities that align with information synthesis, insights delivery, and collective learning. Each best practice is followed by the example of an organization that won an award for that pillar category in the IDC’s 2023 Future of Enterprise Intelligence Awards. The fourth pillar, data culture is embedded into each of the examples described in the sections that follow as the organizations prioritize becoming data driven.

“The importance of enterprise intelligence cannot be emphasized enough as organizations try to use innovative technologies like AI and build competencies related to enterprise intelligence. The exponential rise in interest around AI, combined with challenges related to the global economy, makes it imperative that enterprises leverage both internal and external intelligence to plan and operate successfully. Data-driven organizations with high enterprise intelligence have a much better track record at outperforming their peers and becoming market leaders in their respective industries,” according to Chandana Gopal, research director, IDC Future of Enterprise Intelligence. “Enterprise intelligence can be improved; organizations must be self-aware and know where their gaps are and how to strategically invest to fill those gaps.”
