Abstract

This IDC study discusses the forecast for the worldwide supply chain warehousing and inventory management applications software market. Off good growth in 2022, this market is expected to see a continuation of that growth through 2027 as organizations look to both better optimize their supply chain operations in the short term and ensure they are resilient to market disruptions in the longer term. Although the specter of recession continues to linger, it is viewed as much less likely at this point in 2023 than it was at this same time last year. IDC continues to see no reason to temper the forecast, although of course there is always that possibility as we move materially into 2024. Indeed, IDC surveys suggest that while supply chain executives are mindful of operational efficiency in the short term, they recognize the importance of the supply chain as an enabler of new business models. Growth in the supply chain warehousing and inventory applications market will be driven by both this short-term and long-term focus.

“Companies are seeking capabilities that surround and support core supply chain processes as they continue to mitigate risk and resiliency and balance inventory. Adoption of warehouse and inventory management applications will continue to grow now and into the future with end-to-end visibility as a primary driver,” says Roderick Gaines, director, Worldwide Supply Chain Warehousing and Inventory and Order Management, IDC.
