Abstract
This IDC Tech Buyer Presentation provides IT budget benchmark data and priorities for the technology-oriented value chain (TOVC) — those manufacturers that must deal with the iterating cycles of key underlying technology (e.g., processors) and can have high levels of variation in supply, manufacturing, and demand, such as high-tech brand owners (original equipment manufacturers [OEMs]), semiconductors, and components. The investment data, of over 350 TOVC organizations, comes from a recent IDC Manufacturing Industry study (January 2023) as well as IDC spending guides. This includes a comparison of value chain priorities with the manufacturing industry (process and discrete).
TOVC organizations can use this information to help define their IT strategy and influence budget allocations as well as evaluate their own spending against the provided industry benchmarks.
