Abstract


This IDC Market Presentation analyzes the current positioning of technology suppliers that provide network hardware, software, services, and solutions to the enterprise and what future steps those suppliers must take in order to bolster their position as a trusted and go to provider of connectedness.

Enterprises have been transforming networks and digitalizing IT processes for decades to stay competitive; however, only 23% of enterprises worldwide consider themselves as digital native today. Over the next 12 months, the top 3 connectivity investments enterprises will prioritize are cloud networking, productivity/collaboration, and cybersecurity, and they will turn to their technology partners for support.

Today, no single service provider or technology supplier has significant dominance as the primary supplier of "connectedness" today, highlighting the opportunity to improve market positioning through partnerships and managed services offerings. As network and service complexity increases and businesses struggle to address skills gaps, enterprises see bundled managed services offerings from their service provider as the top reason for strengthening their relationship, and IDC expects this to play an important role in the future development of offerings from the entire technology ecosystem.
