Abstract
This IDC Survey Spotlight focuses on the characteristics organizations prioritize as most important for service providers related to generative AI (GenAI) initiatives. While interest in GenAI has exploded this year, operations anticipate a longer time frame for adoption (14.1 months on average versus 12.9 months for all industries). As operations plan out their GenAI strategy, the question of who to partner with will be an important one to answer. This IDC Survey Spotlight examines what operations prioritize when evaluating service providers for GenAI initiatives — namely use case selection, ROI justification, and being able to apply technical expertise to business challenges.
This IDC Survey Spotlight is based on IDC's August 2023 GenAI ARC Survey, which surveyed over 1,300 organizations to better understand the current use of GenAI, future investment plans, challenges being encountered, and the best practices to better scale GenAI across the enterprise.
