Singapore Winners for IDC’s 2023 Future Enterprise Awards Announced

SINGAPORE, 25 October 2023 – In its 7th IDC Future Enterprise Awards (FEA), International Data Corporation recognized ten of Singapore’s outstanding innovators. David Calkins of Gensler won CEO of the Year, while George Wang of Singapore Airlines snagged the CIO/CDO of the Year award. Other award winners were City Developments Limited, Government Technology of Singapore (GovTech), National Environment Agency, National University Health System (NUHS), National University of Singapore (NUS), OCBC, PSA Corporation limited, and United Overseas Bank Limited (UOB),

Digital Transformation has morphed into the Digital Business era amid global economic and social challenges, pushing enterprises to scale new, sustainable digital business models. The IDC Future Enterprise Awards, with over 500+ winners from 5,000+ nominations in the past six years, recognize the pioneers of this new era, especially those with a digital-first approach and tech-driven operating models.

Following a two-phased approach, each nomination is evaluated by IDC analysts, with country winners then qualifying for a regional competition judged by a panel of international experts. The following are the best out of all the nominations received from Singapore:



CEO of the Year | David Calkins, Gensler

With 25+ years in architecture and design, David Calkins, the regional managing director for Gensler in Asia/Pacific and Middle East, has driven the company's regional ascent. Implementing work process innovations, technological advancements, and emphasizing collaboration, David has positioned Gensler as a leader across diverse sectors.



CIO/CDO of the Year | George Wang, Singapore Airlines

George Wang's leadership in Singapore Airlines' IT Division has fostered unparalleled innovation. The Organization Climate Survey highlighted a 15 percentage point advantage in innovation culture over Singapore's norm. George's forward-thinking strategies ensure Singapore Airlines remains agile and innovative, setting the stage for future growth.



Best in Future of Connectedness | NUSNET6 by National University of Singapore

NUSNET6 revolutionizes the National University of Singapore's connectivity by integrating Wi-Fi 6 technology. With a streamlined platform for access layer connectivity, it guarantees swift connections and bolstered security. The network facilitates real-time crowd monitoring, enhances policies, and provides robust network reliability vital for academic endeavors.



Best in Future of Customer Experience | CDL Homes Sales (CHS) Suite by City Developments Limited

CHS by CDL offers an integrated home-buying experience. Essential during COVID-19, it transitioned the home buying process online, optimizing balloting and leveraging digital technologies like remote signatures. Automating processes minimized errors, making CHS a unique, pioneering developer-led platform in Asia, with insightful sales strategies.



Best in Future of Industry Ecosystems | OptETruck by PSA Corporation Limited

PSA's OptETruck, a cloud-based transport management solution, addresses haulers' concerns about costs and inefficiencies. By automating scheduling and optimizing resources, it reduces empty trips by over 50% and CO2 emissions significantly – projected to have a reduction of 9.6 million kilograms of CO2 emissions yearly. This innovation fortifies Singapore's reputation as a resilient supply chain leader.



Best in Future of Intelligence | CSP360 by United Overseas Bank Limited

CSP360 by United Overseas Bank Limited is an innovative end-to-end ESG data repository solution. Catering to evolving sustainability-related data requirements, it promotes seamless, data-driven workflows for ESG risk management. It's adaptable, staying updated with changing regulatory standards, and ensures consistent ESG data sharing across UOB, integrating seamlessly into existing data architectures.



Best in Future of Work | Empowering Employees with MyWorld and HR-In-Your-Pocket (HIP) by OCBC

OCBC's MyWorld and HR-In-Your-Pocket (HIP) serves as a holistic platform that consolidates employee and work-related concerns. As part of OCBC's Digital Office strategy, the aim is to optimize the work environment by digitizing and automating all employee-focused processes. With a monthly user base of 17,000 and a 4.6/5 satisfaction score, the initiative includes features like the Digital Service Desk and efficient Hot Desk and Lockers systems.



Special Award for Digital Innovation | The Horus Initiative by National University Health System

The National University Health System's (NUHS) Group Technology Office introduces "The Horus Initiative," a pioneering effort in digital healthcare. Building on robust AI platforms, Horus delivers real-time patient data visualization through the electronic medical records system, enabling instant decisions and timely patient care. Notably, it's the sole system in Singapore that interfaces across multiple hospitals and clinical locations.



Special Award for Smart Cities — Best in Citizen Well-Being | myENV Mobile App by National Environment Agency

The myENV Mobile App, developed by the National Environment Agency, offers a unified platform integrating information from NEA, PUB, and SFA. This app provides real-time updates on the environment, water services, and food safety, promoting transparency, enabling timely activity planning, and fostering environmental responsibility among citizens.



Special Award for Sustainability | Green Hosting for Sustainable Digitalization by Government Technology of Singapore (GovTech)

GovTech Singapore is advancing green hosting to foster sustainable digitalisation. By promoting Government Cloud adoption, optimizing cloud workloads, and consolidating data centres, they aim to cut government data centres' electrical consumption by at least 20% from 2020 levels. This supports the GreenGov.SG plan, targeting net zero emissions around 2045.



All country winners qualify for the Asia/Pacific Japan competition, where a panel of judges comprised of IDC worldwide analysts, industry thought leaders, and members of the academia will determine the regional winners. These winners will be announced during IDC’s Future Enterprise Summit and Awards at the Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre on 31 October 2023.
