Abstract

This IDC Survey document presents the results of IDC's Digital Transformation CIO Survey, 2022, conducted in the Middle East (ME) in March, and analyzes regional retail and wholesale sector organizations' digital-first strategies, key technology investment areas for 2022–2023, digital transformation challenges, and key attributes when selecting technology vendors.

"The retail and wholesale industry has witnessed major disruptions and innovations over the past few years. From supply chain management software to advanced Internet of Things (IoT) applications, trade industry technology adoption is rich with innovative solutions and use cases, but it is also accompanied by challenges. Digital technologies have helped retail and wholesale businesses to radically transform customer experience and their operations and cost structures, yet the industry still has room for new use cases, innovations, and new digital business models, with the weight of expectation resting on technology vendors and service providers." — Senior Research Analyst George Ayad, Software and Cloud, IDC MEA
