Marcelo is a senior analyst for IT market intelligence. As software regional analyst, Marcelo is in charge of the System Software Markets for IDC Latin America, he leads research and consulting projects across the region, solving vendors’ inquiries and providing guidance in regard to the Software Market. He works in coordination with other regional analysts for tracking and analyzing market though the competitive landscapes, and forecasting the market to determine future patterns for these technologies. He is an expert in competitive positioning, sizing, forecasting and vertical segmentation of IT markets.
Previously, Marcelo executes the regular research IDC programs for Software & IT Services for the Chilean Market, and consulting in these IT markets, developing research around the adoption of new IT´s in the market and performs studies in different segments of the IT industry, such as Data center service market and IDD, which measures the evolution of IT adoption.
As an expert, he participates as a speaker in IT Market seminars and expositions in Chile, Argentina and Mexico, and is often quoted in various publications and the media in markets such as, infrastructure, security, big data, services based on the cloud concept and the third platform.
He came to IDC with 18 years of experience in the IT services area in the following roles: System engineer, solutions architect, presales and sales. Marcelo studied mechanical engineering at the Universidad del Bío-Bío, and is an Electronics technician with a mention in digital systems and microprocessors and has completed several industry specific courses i.e. Data Net and Telephone Net Analysis at the Universidad de Chile.
