Phil Hochmuth

Program Director, Enterprise Mobility

Phil Hochmuth is the Program Director on IDC's Enterprise Mobility team. His research provides insights into how enterprises deploy mobile devices and applications, as well as management and security platforms. Key markets he covers include enterprise mobility management (EMM) and enterprise mobile security, including mobile data and threat protection, and mobile device security technologies. He is based in IDC’s headquarters in Framingham, MA.


Phil rejoined IDC in 2016 after previous roles in market intelligence and market research. Most recently, as an analyst at Strategy Analytics, Phil directed the firm's Mobile Workforce Strategies research program, covering enterprise mobile devices and BYOD adoption trends. Prior to Strategy Analytics, Phil was head of market intelligence at Dyn where he helped drive Dyn’s product strategy and overall market positioning.

In his previous tenure at IDC, Phil was a program manager in the Security Products research group, covering the Web, messaging and data security markets, as well as mobile and cloud security topics. Phil has also held research analyst roles at the Yankee Group (now 451 Group) and was previously a reporter with Network World. In addition to researching and writing about technology, he was also a systems implementation specialist at CNI Corp.

As an analyst, Phil’s comments on the mobile, security and IT markets to the trade press and media as well as to Wall Street.
