Research Manager , IT Service Management and Client Virtualization

Shannon Kalvar is Research Manager for IDC's IT Service Management and Client Virtualization Program, responsible for delivering research and advisory for IT executives, vendor management teams, and investment executives.  Mr. Kalvar's research coverage includes IT Service Management management, Desktop As A Service (DaaS), Virtual Client Computing, Cost transparency tools, Software Asset management, and the use of AI and NLP for service management.

BACKGROUND

Previously, Shannon was a Director for the IT Planning and Strategy team at OneAmerica Mutual Insurance Company, where he led the analytics and strategic planning practices for IT transformation.  He provided guidance in the implementation of methods and processes derived from ADKAR, COBIT, ITIL, and Six Sigma, and developed customized frameworks and architectural road maps. Mr. Kalvar was also a Capacity and Planning Manager at Cummins, Inc., where he led teams and created roadmaps for organizational change, purchasing, and IT Management best practices, while leading international change efforts for vendor and IT management best practices based on COBIT and ITIL. In addition, Mr. Kalvar was a Strategic Planner at Lockheed Martin, where he applied the PRINCE2, MSP, COBIT, ITIL, and COSO frameworks across customer, and IT Infrastructure and Operational processes.  Shannon has over 23 years of transformational leadership, and operational experience as an IT executive.
