Abstract

This IDC study provides vendor market shares for the printer and MFP market for 2022.

"Demand for MFPs and printers exceeded supply, as the supply chain crisis that began in 2021 continued in 2022. Shipping container availability recovered by midyear. However, microchip and component shortages remained, exacerbated by COVID-19 outbreaks in China that halted or limited production. Some vendors managed their supply chains better than others, resulting in market share gains and losses. The permanence of these market share shifts will be determined by the extent to which each vendor's product and service offerings resonate with a transformed workplace after the supply chain crisis ends." — Geoffrey Wilbur, research manager, Imaging, Printing, and Document Solutions at IDC
