This IDC Market Perspective provides insights on the impact of generative AI (GenAI) on the enterprise storage systems industry. The introduction of generative AI into the broad market of consumers and enterprises early in 2023 disrupted conventional notions of content generation and created a sense of urgency for many organizations to try to determine how they could use the new capabilities to their benefit. Dedicated compute and storage infrastructure and public cloud infrastructure services will be one of the focus areas of investments in the next 18 months.
