Abstract
This IDC Perspective highlights the key takeaways from the National Retail Federation (NRF) 2024: Retail's Big Show focused on the strategic importance of new point-of-sale (POS) and payment offerings in enhancing omni-channel customer experience as well as fraud and loss prevention. It highlights the themes seen across visits to a wide range of tech vendors, including growing interest in biometric payments, how payment transformation can impact customer experience, the significance of flexible and unified systems in delivering seamless omni-channel POS experiences, and the use of next-gen technology in fraud and loss prevention at checkout.
"We saw a variety of next-gen POS and payments solutions unveiled at NRF 2024 that can go a long way in helping retailers address current common pain points of delivering seamless omni-channel customer experiences and reducing shrink," said Margot Juros, research director, Worldwide Retail Technology Strategies, IDC. "There was new focus on the benefits of next-gen offerings to make omni-channel transactions faster, easier, more personalized, and more secure for improved retail outcomes."
