This IDC Pivot Table examines the performance of the server microprocessor market through several market views. For the period 1Q16 through 4Q23, unit shipments and revenue by vendors are included as well as unit shipments by processor architecture, channel to customer, socket design capability, and system category. The "Server Microprocessors Tables" tab of the accompanying pivot table includes a forecast of unit shipments by processor architecture, channel to customer, socket design capability, and system category.
A server microprocessor (MPU) is designed with the intent to be used in a computing system expressly built, marketed, and sold as a server. However, while server microprocessors are most often used in servers, they may also be used in workstations, storage systems, networking systems, and embedded systems. Processors designed for other system categories but consumed by servers are not covered in this document.
