Abstract

This IDC Survey investigates how Asia/Pacific (including Japan) (APJ) C-suites are approaching technology investments; the priorities, objectives, and challenges they have; and their perceptions on the technology vendor landscape. The study findings are designed to help tech vendors understand how to meet the priorities of C-suite executives and can serve as peer reference research for C-suite executives in the enterprise.

A new chapter in the digital business era has begun — AI everywhere. The intensifying competition to deliver on business outcomes using technology is driving a new wave of investments, with generative AI (GenAI) topping the technology of choice. Across functions, C-level executives are targeting functional use cases to improve operational efficiency and drive productivity improvements that, in turn, will widen the relevance and access of traditional AI use cases, thereby democratizing access to enterprise intelligence, extending data-driven workflows and processes, and ultimately, increasing levels of enterprise-scale automation.

"Decisions around infrastructure for AI workload, intelligence architecture, and talents needed for transformed work models will serve to accelerate or hinder business transformation initiatives," says Lawrence Cheok, Associate Research Director, Digital Business Strategies at IDC Asia/Pacific. "Technology buyers and vendors that successfully leverage ecosystem partner capabilities to innovate and deliver on outcomes will gain a far-reaching edge for the years to come," he adds.

The analysis in this report is based on an APJ subset of respondents of IDC’s 2023–2024 Worldwide C-Suite Tech Survey.
