Senior Research Analyst, Internet of Things: Consumer

Adam Wright is a Senior Research Analyst for IDC's Internet of Things (IoT) Consumer program. Adam's research focuses on the smart home and connected consumer devices and applications, and provides perspective on the enabling technologies, standards and software platforms that comprise the consumer IoT market. Adam's core areas of research include: consumer awareness, understanding, and the adoption of consumer IoT devices, applications, and technologies; smart home innovation; home networking, automation, monitoring and control; intelligent assistants (IA) and IA-embedded devices; consumer IoT device connectivity technologies; and consumer IoT platforms and vendor strategies.


Adam joined IDC in October 2015 as a Senior Research Analyst on IDC’s global IoT program. Prior to his current role, Adam's research focused on the impact of the IoT across the ecosystem of software, services, hardware and connectivity, and provided perspective on the IoT platform, standards body priorities and service provider strategies. His in-depth analysis of IDC’s annual Global IoT Decision Maker survey included adoption trends, inhibitors and planned deployments. Before joining IDC's team, Adam worked as an Associate Researcher for the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), focusing primarily on the Technology, Media and Telecommunications markets.
