Milan Kalal

Program Manager, Internet of Things, Central and Eastern Europe

Milan Kalal leads the Internet of Things (IoT) research practice for IDC across Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa (CEMA).

Kalal manages research and consulting projects examining IoT use cases and adoption across the CEMA region. His research on both IoT end users and the vast ecosystem of technology vendors examines market developments, quantifies the market opportunity, and provides unique insight addressing industry-specific drivers for IoT, vendor strategies, and end-user trends that affect IoT adoption dynamics across the region. Together with IDC's regional analysts, he works to size and forecast the IoT revenue opportunity and installed base within this burgeoning market.

In addition to IoT, Kalal works with the IDC Energy Insights and Customer Insights teams, managing quantitative research, IT spending forecast models, and consulting engagements across Central and Eastern Europe. Focusing on vertical-market behavior, the cross-technology nature of his position has enabled him to develop a balanced understanding of the hardware, software, and IT services markets.

Prior to joining IDC in 2009, Kalal worked for eight years as a consultant and project manager in the finance sector, specializing in strategic marketing. He has experience implementing customer insight strategies and tools, including CRM, data mining, geo-marketing, and competitive intelligence.

Kalal holds an MBA from Sheffield Hallam University in the U.K., and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Anglo-American College in Prague, Czech Republic.
