Jason Blackwell

Research Director, Consumer Multiplay and SMB Services

Jason Blackwell is the Research Director for IDC’s Consumer Multiplay & Broadband Services and SMB Telecom, Broadband and Video programs.  In this role, Mr. Blackwell provides insightful analysis and thought leadership in the rapidly evolving converging ecosystem of bundled telephony, broadband, video and wireless services.  Jason provides end-user consumption and technology adoption trends, as well as analysis of service provider strategies and competitive differentiation in meeting consumer and SMB communications and networking requirements.


Prior to joining IDC, Mr. Blackwell was Director of the Service Provider Strategies group at Strategy Analytics.  In that role, he developed research products focusing on competitive intelligence and strategies of the world’s major Pay TV, Broadband, and Telecom Service Providers.  Mr. Blackwell has also led research programs for a number of market intelligence firms serving as Digital Home Practice Director at ABI Research, co-founder of S2 Data Corporation, and Director of Operations and End-Market Analysis with Semico Research Corp.
