Abstract
This IDC Survey examines selected results from two consumer surveys fielded in 2022 and 2023 to look at consumer engagement with digital entertainment services and experiences. Year-over-year changes as well as comparisons with pre- and peak-COVID-19 pandemic periods are included. Areas of focus in this presentation include streaming video and audio, social media, and gaming. Generational differences, time spent on activities, and share of consumers using paid services are also highlighted.
"Entertainment remains a key facet of the consumer market with increasingly high levels of engagement," said Marlanna Bozicevich, associate project analyst for IDC's Device and Consumer Research. "Survey results show how video continues to be the leading entertainment activity but social media, and social media's role as a video distributor, is increasingly important."
