Abstract

This IDC Survey provides an overview of the worldwide results from IDC's 2023 Worldwide Managed Services Survey of enterprises involving their spending intentions and dealmaking strategies for managed services. This document involved 476 respondents across 5 geographies, including Australia, China, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States involving multiple industries and firms with at least 1,000 employees worldwide.

This document offers insight into the current pace of enterprise spending over the next 12-24 months for managed services involving both enterprise applications and datacenter IT infrastructure, along with the direction enterprise spending may move for these services based on different types of exogenous events (e.g., inflation, geopolitical conflicts, recession, cyberwarfare, client change, and trade policies). This document also provides insight into enterprise strategies when it comes to renewing and terminating contracts for managed services, as well as future contract expectations and how enterprises view the evolution of their deals including insourcing and use of managed service providers (SPs).

This document also provides IDC's essential guidance for service providers looking to compete effectively in the world of managed cloud services. Key areas of advice include developing a new operating model, investing extensively in public cloud partnerships, looking to scale business through efficiencies, and seeking new markets.
