Abstract

This IDC Survey examines selected results from IDC's Personal Mobility, Travel, and Dining Survey fielded in 4Q22. Results and analysis focus on consumer engagement with a range of modes of personal mobility. Areas of focus in this presentation include the share of time allocated across modes of mobility and consumer sentiment relative to personal car ownership. Generational differences, urban consumer behaviors, and consumer reasons for using micro-mobility and ride-share modes are also highlighted.

"Younger consumers are driving the diversification of personal mobility," said Greg Ireland, research director for IDC's Future Consumer Agenda program. "While urban consumers are understandably more likely to use a wider range of mobility options, broader trends in the future of personal mobility are evident in the behaviors and attitudes of Gen Z."
