Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight highlights results from the following question posed to 185 respondents and firms with 1,000+ employees across 9 countries, and several major industries, as part of IDC's 2023 ServicesPath Survey: "Provider Characteristics. Which characteristics does your company view as critical for managed cloud services vendors to possess in supporting your business and/or technology requirements over the next three years?"

This IDC Survey Spotlight then assesses the impact of enterprise requirements across LOB and IT stakeholders on managed SPs and the need for managed SPs to address the issue of cannibalization of labor by automation as well as substitution of managed cloud services with the use of public cloud provider platforms by developing road maps of where to invest in talent to ensure a reasonable ROI, cannibalize the project-based aspects of services and transition these services into more automated and embedded capabilities within operationally delivered services via the cloud, and focus on providing "system centric" value in which managed SPs center their relationships with clients on governance and orchestration across the entire set of IT and cloud resources and partners.
