Abstract
This IDC Survey examines selected results from IDC's Money and Shopping Survey fielded in 2Q23. The results and analysis focus on consumer engagement with online shopping. Areas of focus in this presentation include the share of time allocated categories of online shopping such as retails versus peer-to-peer marketplaces and auction sites and the role social media influencers play in driving purchase decisions. Generational differences are also highlighted.
"Changes in how consumers shop online continue to be driven by younger adults in the Gen Z and millennial cohorts," said Greg Ireland, research director for IDC's Future Consumer Agenda program. "These consumers are increasingly spending time and money on peer-to-peer marketplaces and looking to social media influencers when making purchase decisions."
