Abstract

This IDC PeerScape analyzes how government tax and revenue agencies around the globe are embracing digital and data-centric innovation to make tax just happen and close the tax gap. To do so, they need to future proof their technology architecture.

"Tax agencies are using data and technology to minimize taxpayer interactions with tax agencies, as taxation will 'just happen' in real time across the economy, and mistakes, complaints, and rework will be reduced so that the cost per euro, dollar, or pound collected will be lower," said Massimiliano Claps, research director, IDC Government Insights; Shawn McCarthy, research director, IDC Government Insights; and Gerald Wang, head, IDC Asia/Pacific Public Sector.
