Abstract

This IDC study provides IDC's top 10 predictions for manufacturing product and service innovation for 2022 and beyond.

"The past 18 months have changed just about every aspect of the manufacturing industry, and no value chain was immune to the disruption. Engineering-, asset-, technology-, and brand-oriented manufacturers all felt the impacts associated with headwinds, tailwinds, and crosswinds in market, which went beyond the pandemic. Manufacturers that embraced disruption but also accelerated their digital transformation journey were able to thrive a rapidly shifting landscape. Those manufacturers that maintained a status quo partly due to a fear of the unknown or making the wrong digital bets were passed by, and their customers moved on to organizations that could take advantage of the next normal of a digital world," said Aly Pinder, program director, Service Innovation and Connected Products Strategies at IDC Manufacturing Insights.
