Bo Lykkegaard is associate vice president for the Software Tracker, Public Cloud Services Tracker, and European Enterprise Applications research. He focuses on the composition and developments of the broader Western European software market, in additional to detailed studies of ERP, CRM, HR, and payroll applications. Specific research areas include market analysis, competitive analysis, user case studies, end-user surveys, and software market splits by vertical and company size segments. In addition, Lykkegaard analyzes the impact of new trends, such as as-a-service, blurring between consumer and enterprise, and digitalization of business models and employee processes. Finally, he delivers consulting on custom market models, return-on-investment analysis in the software projects, and other topics.

Lykkegaard joined IDC's European Software Group as a senior research analyst in November 2002. Before joining IDC, he spent two years working as a sales specialist at IBM Software Group in Denmark, selling software solutions to large customers. Prior to this, he was responsible for establishing a software sales unit for the solution provider, GBM, in Honduras, Central America. He also has two years' experience as a Consultant at Cap Gemini, Denmark.

Lykkegaard holds an MSc in business administration and technology management at Copenhagen Business School, Denmark, in addition to course work at Brandeis University, Boston.
