Masayuki Shimokawabe

Research Manager, Enterprise Infrastructure, IDC Japan

Masayuki Shimokawabe is a Research Manager in IDC's Japan Enterprise Infrastructure research team. In this role, he is responsible for the analysis on Enterprise IT infrastructure, especially server market in Japan. In addition, he is watching for new trend of the IT market players. He is also responsible for analysis of Enterprise IT Transformation (EIT) in large corporations and governmental organizations that is aiming at their innovation toward the 3rd platform computing.

Prior to joining IDC Japan, Shimokawabe worked for public corporation named The Institute of Administrative Information Systems, as a chief researcher and Journal editor. He engaged in research and other activities in Japan and abroad for the realization and promotion of e-government. In this role he was involved in networking activities with central and local government officials, personnel at universities and research institutes and senior executives at private companies.

Prior to joining the public corporation, he worked for IBM Japan consistently in sales/marketing division. He was well versed in broad range of IT business and had a proven track record by appointed as Senior Client Executive, Senior Partner Alliance Manager, Solution manager of Government in IBM Asia Pacific and Marketing Manager of Government Industry in his 25 years as IBMer.

Mr. Shimokawabe holds a degree of Bachelor of Business Administration from Nihon University.
