Douglas Hayward

Associate Vice President

Douglas Hayward is an Associate Vice President based in IDC’s office in London, England. Douglas leads IDC's research on cloud ERP professional services ecosystems. In Europe, he leads a team that researches IT infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS) and software as a service (SaaS) in the region. His personal research focus is on the evolving services ecosystems around next-generation enterprise applications.


Douglas has more than 13 years’ experience researching the ICT industry and has led numerous consulting and research projects for major clients, and has presented at conferences and client events. He rejoined IDC in January 2016, after working for a major global services organization, Accenture, in its global Growth & Strategy unit. Douglas also has more than 10 years’ experience covering the ICT industry as a writer, including editing Computing newspaper in the UK and writing about ICT regularly for The Financial Times and Upside. His first role was as a management trainee at the Greater London Council, where (among other things) he wrote programs in ADABAS Natural.
