Welcome to IDC Integration Services

At IDC, we empower clients to unlock the full potential of their research and data subscriptions through secure, scalable integration solutions. Whether you’re enhancing workforce productivity, optimizing internal platforms, or fueling enterprise AI initiatives, our connectivity options deliver IDC insights where and when you need them.

IDC offers a range of enterprise-grade interfaces to support your operational and strategic goals.

Using these integration methods, you can automate document and data retrieval and streamline user access while adhering to IDC’s security requirements. In general, all IDC data integrations require prior onboarding to enable API access or SFTP credentials for your account, and to configure SSO integration if desired. Once set up, you will have the necessary API keys, SFTP credentials, or SAML configuration details to proceed.

For onboarding refer to the relevant onboarding section: Setting up SSO integrationSetting up SFTP Access, or Setting up API Access.

Simplify Access with SAML SSO

IDC SSO integration enhances user experience and maximizes the value of your subscription as it enables frictionless and secure access to IDC platforms. IDC SAML authentication ensures users can log in using your corporate credentials, streamlining access while reinforcing security posture. This way the client employees will be able to access IDC content seamlessly in no time. For details, please refer to Single Sign On (SAML).

Automate Document Ingestion via API & SFTP

You can easily pull IDC Research Documents directly into your internal systems using REST APIs or SFTP. This automated delivery ensures your teams and platforms always have the most relevant content at hand—ready for search, analysis, AI use cases, or workflow automation. For details, please refer to REST API doc and SFTP Integration sections.

Research documents include expert-written market analyses, forecasts, and strategic insights published by IDC analysts. Research Documents are designed for human consumption and strategic planning and typically include:

Executive summaries and abstracts

Full reports in HTML, XML, PDF, PPT, and Excel formats

Metadata such as author names, titles, covered topics and regions, publication and release dates.

Access Methods:

There are two ways to integrate research documents.

  • REST API: Enables fine-grained real time access to the IDC Research.
  • SFTP: Supports scheduled bulk deliveries of document files for ingestion into content libraries and portals

Integrate Data Products for Scalable Intelligence

IDC’s market data products—forecasts, trackers, and models— can be connected directly through bulk SFTP deliveries or API feeds. These integrations make it easy to incorporate IDC’s structured insights into dashboards, reporting engines, and analytics pipelines. For details, please refer to REST API doc and SFTP Integration sections.

IDC’s data sets provide structured, machine-readable quantitative information derived from market models, trackers, and surveys. These are ideal for integration into internal analytics workflows or feeding AI systems, and typically include:

  • Time series data
  • Segment-level breakdowns
  • Forecast metrics and historical data
  • Region and industry-specific categorization

Access Methods:

There are two ways to integrate research documents.

  • REST API: Provides programmatic access with filtering and versioning options
  • SFTP: Allows periodic delivery of large-scale files in formats such as CSV or Excel

Please note that the data subscription will also typically contain taxonomy documents and occasional research documents. The taxonomy and research documents have to be downloaded through the Document Ingestion REST API or SFTP.

The data product subscription can come with customer specific File Deliverables like various pivot tables or qualitative analysis documents. At the moment these customer specific files have to be downloaded through MyIDC.

Subscription-Based Access to IDC Content

IDC takes great care to ensure clients have secure, tailored access to the research and data they subscribe to. All Research Document and Data Product integrations are governed by your organization’s subscription entitlements.

What Can You Access

IDC takes great care to ensure clients have secure, tailored access to the research and data they subscribe to. All Research Document and Data Product integrations are governed by your organization’s subscription entitlements. You can only retrieve IDC content — whether documents or datasets — that falls within the scope of your active subscriptions. This means:

  • Only documents explicitly included in your subscription package will appear via API or be delivered via SFTP
  • Access is restricted based on release dates, publication dates, and retire dates
  • Data products (e.g., trackers, forecasts) will be filtered to match your licensed regions, segments, and product tiers

Attempts to retrieve unsubscribed content will return standardized API responses such as 403 Forbidden or 401 Unauthorized, depending on the access method and endpoint used.

Should you need additional content reach to the account manager or Customer Success Representative.
